MYTILINEOS Holdings S.A. is today one of Greece’s largest industrial Groups, active in the Metallurgy-Mining, EPC Projects, Energy and Vehicle Industry sectors. The Company, established in 1990, has evolved from an old, family-owned, metallurgy business that began operating in 1908, to an international Metallurgy, Energy, Construction and holding company.

From 1991 to 1994, through a series of acquisitions and mergers, the activities of all subsidiaries were transferred to the parent Company. The Company was listed in the Athens Stock Exchange in 1995, and its share is a constituent of the FTSE 20 large-capitalisation index.

In the last decade, the Company achieved a substantial growth of its turnover and profits and made a major contribution to the development of the country’s infrastructures through its activities. The acquisition of Aluminium of Greece S.A. in early 2005 marked the beginning of a new era for MYTILINEOS Group, as it strengthened further the Group’s significant presence in the Metallurgy sector becoming a big industrial producer.

In the EPC sector, the Group is active through its subsidiary METKA. Today, METKA succeeds in entering new and highly promising foreign markets (Turkey, Syria), while in parallel expanding and enhancing the quality of its clients’ portfolio (RWE, OMV). The company’s backlog stands over €2 bn of which more than 80% involve activities abroad, thus establishing METKA as a reliable international player in the EPC Projects sector and amongst the largest exporting companies of the Greek economy.

The Group’s establishment in the energy sector was a major challenge and a key priority. The Group, either independently or through Joint Venture agreements with strong partners (ENDESA – MOTOR OIL), holds today a significant portfolio of Energy Assets in place and under construction.

A 334 MW co-generation plant, one of the most modern plants of its kind in Europe, has already entered into operation since April 2009 and is contributing significant amounts of electrical power to the national system. Additionally, two combined-cycle power plants of total capacity of 880 MW, in Viotia and Korinthos regions, are currently under construction and expected to be completed by 2010 and 2011 respectively.

The Group is also strongly active in the RES sector, where its total operational capacity now stands at 45 MW, with 26 MW being under construction and another 800 MW in various licensing stages. The Group focus is set mainly on wind power aiming to benefit from the very favourable framework put recently in effect. The acquisition of four wind parks in Evia with a total capacity of 18.6 MW from the Danish firm DONG in 2008 demonstrates the Group’s commitment on this strategy.

All the above help make feasible the Group’s goal of creating the largest independent producer of electrical power in Greece.

The dynamic business growth of the MYTILINEOS Group is fully aligned with the principles of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Growth. For the Group, the concept of Sustainable Growth is synonymous to seeking business excellence, remaining committed to its vision and respecting society, the environment, its employees and its shareholders. The Group’s policy on sustainability is based on the harmonious coexistence of its business activities with the needs of the local communities, where it operates. In this context, the Group is actively supporting major initiatives in the domains of culture, education, and the protection of the environment.

Responsible growth and continuous improvement of performance in all sectors of business activity are long-standing and firm commitments for the Group.

Guided by this philosophy, MYTILINEOS Group is making steady progress towards realising its vision of becoming the largest independent Energy producer in Greece and one of Europe’s strongest and most competitive Heavy Industry Groups in Energy, Metallurgy and Construction..
