Description:Pensions Week is looking for a deputy editor to join its small, lively team. The role requires maturity and ability to protect the magazine’s editorial integrity while working with the advertising, events, and marketing teams to help promote the PW brand and the profile of the wider Pensions Group at the FT.

The role offers the successful applicant the chance to help drive a quality magazine forward, raise their profile and gain invaluable experience to further their career in journalism.
Keytasks:To support editor by:
Driving, writing and editing original editorial content
Deputising in editor’s absence - signing off pages, ensuring features are in place, working with external contributors - being ultimately responsible for the final product
Taking responsibility for commercial projects in editor’s absence, ability to deal with external clients a must
Conducting roundtables for the magazine
Liaising with industry to raise profile of magazine - attending industry conferences, press conferences, miscellaneous networking opportunities etc
Working with the sales and events teams to help drive new commercial ventures and create new revenue-generating ideas
Motivate and encourage junior staff in the Pensions Group via leadership by example to fulfil their potential
Liaise with online team to support PensionsNews.com and any other online ventures in the future
Essential skills:Applicants for the post of deputy editor must have proven experience in pensions journalism and exhibit clear understanding of the UK retirement market.
Applicants should demonstrate a thorough understanding of both the editorial and commercial demands of running a trade magazine and show flair and creativity in helping to improve PW’s position as a leading UK pensions title.
The PW deputy editor will be a dedicated news journalist and consider news a priority, while developing feature ideas and writing profiles.
