Description:Pensions Week has been at the forefront of UK pensions publishing since its launch in 1997. An editor with a strong skill set and visionary leadership qualities is required to take the magazine as well as web- and event-related products and services to the next level of development. The editor will need to display a proven track record in financial journalism as well as a thorough understanding of the commercial side of trade publishing operations. The successful candidate will be comfortable with representing the product at the highest levels of the industry and the business world at large.
Keytasks:Ensuring Pension Week's reputation for editorial quality and integrity is upheld
Generating ideas for new topics and sections within the magazine
Managing, motivating and developing a team of 3 journalists
Working with a team of sub-editors to ensure the magazine hits its deadlines and quality of design and layout is maintained
Managing editorial costs budget for freelance contributions, columnists, cartoons etc.
Networking across the pensions industry with high level ranking contacts at pension schemes and their advisers as well as other senior representative bodies
Contributing editorial to each issue as required
Supporting and writing for the Pensions News website
Commissioning freelancers, columnists, sponsored editorial as required
Organisation and chairing of magazine-based sponsored roundtables
Working with the FT Global Events team on annual UK pensions events programme
Working with the Publisher and sales team to generate new drivers for commercial opportunities
Essential skills:Previous track record as a senior journalist with editing responsibilities in business media publishing
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the following:
pensions and investment issues in the UK
all aspects of magazine production: editorial, design, sales, marketing, production and circulation
commercial sensitivities of trade magazine publishing
Ability to operate effectively at the highest levels of the pensions industry
Ability to chair conferences and seminars
